With Seymour and the help of Hablot Brown (Phiz), he published The Pickwick Papers, which, after the final installment, sold over 40,000 copies. This was when The Paris Review named Dickens an “authorpreneur.”

After The Pickwick Papers came Oliver Twist, a story still enjoyed worldwide. Even Queen Victoria came across the works of Charles Dickens and enjoyed them thoroughly. Charles Dickens was now making a good living for himself and his family. He visited the United States and was giving lectures there. One of Charles Dickens’ good friends who later biographed his life, John Forster, wrote that Charles thought of himself as a very small boy who was not particularly taken care of. This statement translates to his character Pip from Great Expectations
